“How much does it cost to use medical aid in dying?”

Fees

Private medical services for aid in dying range from $2,500 in New Mexico, to over $7,000 in New Jersey and California. Our goal is to make this service available for New Mexicans of all income levels.

Your first visit from us is called a consultation, and is billed at $250 per hour, payable on the same day. It usually takes only one hour, but we are happy to stay as long as needed to answer all your questions. During the consultation, you may choose to have our official assessment of your eligibility, and to proceed with planning a medically assisted death if you are eligible.

After our first visit, you may choose to continue to pay at this hourly rate, or we can discuss covering your end of life care at a cost you can afford.

Our fees do not cover your cost for the aid-in-dying prescription. This is paid directly to the pharmacy, unless you have NM Medicaid. This is the only insurance that will cover this prescription. For all others, the out of pocket cost is usually between $500-$600.

Your fee may be paid to your provider via check, or cash, or by returning to this page and paying electronically.
