“How much does it cost to use medical aid in dying?”

Fee Schedule and Terms

Although the usual amount charged nationwide is $2,500 for a clinician’s help, our fees make this service available for New Mexicans of all income levels.

Your first visit from us is called a consultation, and is billed at $150 per hour. It usually takes only one hour. During the consultation, you may choose to have our official assessment of your eligibility, and to proceed with planning a medically assisted death if you are eligible.

After our first visit, you may choose to continue to pay at this hourly rate, or you may make a single payment to cover all our services going forward. Your payment goes directly to your providers. Please refer to the table below to find your household income and the suggested payment. No proof of income is required.

Fee Schedule
  • Our fees do not cover your cost for the aid-in-dying prescription. This is paid directly to the pharmacy. NM Medicaid is the only insurance that will cover this prescription. For all others, the out of pocket cost is usually between $500-$550.
  • Your fee may be paid to your provider via check, zelle, or cash. With respect, we must ask for your payment at the time you elect to engage our services. Thank you for understanding.
  • Other services are billed differently. Please ask us for an estimate if you are considering voluntary stopping of eating and drinking or other end of life choices.
